Waaree Energies — Internship Learning Report

Vapi Manufacturing Facility · Manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, maintenance and packaging

About Waaree

Observed an integrated solar module manufacturing facility covering cell interconnection, lamination, testing, quality assurance, maintenance and packaging.

Internship objectives

Day 1 — Manufacturing overview

Individual solar cells are converted into photovoltaic modules through front-end and back-end manufacturing. Module structure: Front Glass → EVA → Solar Cells → EVA → Backsheet/Back Glass. EVA protects cells from vibration, moisture and mechanical stress.

Front-end processes include cell handling, stringing and interconnection. Back-end processes include lamination, vacuum removal of trapped air, cooling and sealing.

Industrial automation & maintenance

Vacuum pick-and-place systems transport glass safely and accurately. Maintenance teams coordinate fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance and rapid repair to minimise downtime.

Day 2 — Laboratory & product testing

Testing covers water leak, insulation, continuity, accessibility and sharp-edge safety; peel strength, lap shear, dynamic mechanical load and junction-box robustness; electroluminescence and sun-simulator performance; and environmental tests including thermal cycling, humidity-freeze and UV exposure.

Day 3 — Quality assurance

Quality assurance is integrated throughout production. Incoming materials, in-process modules and final products are continuously inspected for consistency and compliance.

Day 4 — Packaging & final dispatch

Final inspection confirms module quality before packaging. Packaging systems are evaluated for structural integrity during storage and transport, including box-strength testing.

Key engineering learning

The internship provided practical understanding of solar module manufacturing, quality assurance, industrial testing, automation and the importance of process control in large-scale production.
