Sensored Gloves
I built a sensor-integrated glove intended to help people with visual impairments detect nearby obstacles through feedback they could feel or hear.
The project
I developed the glove as a working prototype during MYP 5 Design. The design challenge was to place sensors and feedback components in a wearable form without making it uncomfortable or overwhelming the user.
Design decisions and learning
I explored how obstacle detection could be translated into immediate feedback, while considering sensor placement, detection range, comfort and power requirements. The project helped me understand that a wearable assistive device has to be dependable and easy to interpret, not merely technically functional.
